Certificate on Migration and Refugee Studies
Keele Campus
To study development is to study the histories and processes used towards achieving transformational “progress”, and the results it has produced. Its study is essential to understanding how we have arrived at the circumstances we find ourselves in today, including the widening gap between rich and poor, the near collapse of our natural world through climate change, and the great racial and cultural struggles of our time.

In my study of development, I have chosen to research an alternative form of education founded on the Latin American philosophy of Buen Vivir, that is rooted in traditional knowledge, and whether this is appealing to Venezuelan migrants/refugees in Colombia.

BRIGHAM YOUNG UNIVERSITY IDAHO
BSc Marriage and Family Studies

TESL
Online
By Studying Marriage and Family Studies I was able to revisit and expand my knowledge of essential topics in child and youth development. I also learned about relationship strengthening through a family perspective that takes into account cultural diversity, human sexuality, interpersonal relationships, resource management, parent education, as well as family law and public policy. Through my studies I gained the content knowledge needed to become a Certified Family Life Educator through the NCFR.

I also obtained a certificate to teach English to speakers of other languages (TESL); my interest in it stemming from my own experience as an ESL student.
2005 - 2007
HUMBER COLLEGE
Early Childhood Education
North Campus
My love for children inspired me to become an ECE. My studies in Early Childhood Education taught me about child psychology and development, as well as education for children in their infancy, early, and middle childhood. I gained basic knowledge for working with children with special needs and learned to focus on families and the importance of building trust and understanding with them.

Looking back, this education enabled me not only to be employed as an ECE, but also aided me in raising my four children.
